My fascination with words and rhymes began when I was seven years old as a way to take a break from work on our family farm. It wasn’t until after college that I started crafting songs, yet I didn’t consider myself a songwriter.
Then one morning I read an article about a known songwriter in Nashville that intrigued me. She said she didn’t go to a studio to write songs but instead would get an inspiration baking cookies, then stop to write. That’s how my songs come to me. Gone Fishin’ was born while I was sunning my buns on Bondi Beach in Sydney, AU.
Reading that article, I knew I wanted to hone my craft. On a whim I booked a plane ticket to Crisfield Island outside of BaltImore to collaborate with a group of songwriter I’d never met before… and this was the very beginning of Candy Country.

My very first canvas was an old Beltone guitar my aunt dug out of her basement and gave to me. When a friend invited me to take an art class she was teaching, I grabbed that basement treasure, painted it, then decoupaged old black and white photos of Elvis all over it. I’ve been hooked on mixed media ever since. I get as excited creating a work of art as I do writing music and singing my songs. I love bringing my songs to life on canvas. 🎨
