Change is not always easy. Why is that? Why do we resist change in some ways, but with things we cannot control, we are more accepting of it?
The weather changes daily, hourly and even down to the millisecond. We can cuss the messenger, weatherman, but that won’t change anything. So we accept it because we can’t change it. Seasons change faithfully even though I wish summer would last just a little longer! I could change my address and be closer to the beach, but I wouldn’t get to change out of my flip flops and into my warm fuzzy winter boots and cute jackets! I digress.. ?
We are tangled in a sea of change.. everything changes. Relationships change, people change; we grow and change every day—it’s automatic, from babies to teens, then adults. We change diapers, sheets, underwear, socks, shoes and clothes every day and sometimes multiple times a day! We change tires, get an oil change, change lanes, change course, change plans and on and on…
Every day we experience change organically with time, so what keeps us in our comfort zone when that big change in something we can control is the thing that will set us on fire? There have been relationships in my life that I knew weren’t working long before I ended them. I’ve stayed on a job for the steady paycheck all the while knowing there was something better. There are ‘variables’ I could change that would make me a better human being, but “that’s just the way I am,” I say. Why is changing patience level not as easy as changing shoes? Why is changing a job or ending a relationship more difficult than procrastinating it just a little bit longer? ?
What if procrastination and resistance is a distraction that robs us of precious time; a commodity we cannot replenish. Ever. Each second that passes is gone forever. What if our brains are wired like a switch and we can change a thought or a nasty habit at any moment? From dark to light, POOF! Collect more time, energy and happiness—yes, please! I could use the extra time writing and working on my craft which requires much energy and focus! #myHappyPlace ???
The next time I’m in the dark (resisting change) leaking time and energy, I’m going to change that burnt out circuit in my brain and replace it with a new idea, a new way of being, a new pathway that lights me up!? The smallest change in my habitual thoughts give me the space to create magic and abundance from right here, right now. Amazing, right?! ✨
Life’s too short. Find your switch and let’s cause a lightstorm y’all! ⚡⚡⚡
